Several pitchers and a catcher on the Dodgers’ 60-day injured list are finishing or progressing through rehab assignments at Triple-A Oklahoma City, creating a narrow window for corresponding 40-man roster moves in early September.
Ben Casparius, Bobby Miller, and Gavin Stone started Triple-A rehab stints in July and August, with MLB rules setting deadlines for roster decisions in early September.
Commissioner’s Office rules allow a review period and possible extension of rehab time if a new or recurring injury is claimed, which could delay roster moves.
The Dodgers already have eight players on the 60-day injured list, so reinstating multiple players will require corresponding moves such as options, DFA, or transfers.
Status of the key rehabbing players
Three other arms on the 60-day injured list are on rehab at Oklahoma City. Ben Casparius started his rehab on July 25 and has struggled with control (14 walks, 10 strikeouts, 7.27 ERA in 10 games), though four of his last five outings were scoreless. Bobby Miller and Gavin Stone began rehab assignments on August 5 and August 6, respectively. Stone's work has been strong: he struck out 13 of 28 batters faced and allowed two runs on three hits with one walk in 7 2/3 innings.
Players on the 60-day injured list must be transferred back to the 40-man roster when they're ready to be reinstated. That requires the Dodgers to create space on the 40-man, either by optioning, designating for assignment (DFA), or moving another player to the 60-day IL.
MLB's rehabilitation rules matter here. Pitchers are allowed up to 30 days on a single rehab assignment, but the Commissioner's Office can permit a new or extended rehab period if a player suffers a new or recurring injury while rehabbing. The Office will review claims closely, and if it accepts a reoccurrence, the player must sit out a five- or seven-day period (position player vs. pitcher) before a new rehab window starts.
Deadlines and practical decision points
Other 60-day IL names include Will Klein (loose bodies on his right elbow) and catcher Dalton Rushing (partially torn UCL). Either could still be transferred to the 60-day IL as part of longer-term planning, which would affect postseason availability.
