CareTrust REIT moved its headquarters to Dana Point and asked Symmetry 8 Studio to design a space that matched the company's growth and culture. The result is a 6,200 sq ft, hospitality-driven office completed in 2025 that aims to pair day-to-day work with recreation and wellness.
The brief prioritized three clear aims: reflect rapid growth, support an energetic and collaborative team culture, and connect the workplace to the Dana Point lifestyle. The relocation to the coast was deliberate — the company wanted a more intentional workplace centered on wellness, flexibility, and team connection.
Sym8 organized the office to blend productive work areas with places for informal interaction and recharge. The plan emphasizes a warm, residential-inspired kitchen and lounge for casual collaboration. Private and shared work zones are complemented by amenity-driven spaces that invite movement and downtime.
- Residential kitchen and lounge: designed to encourage informal gatherings and cross-team conversation.
- Golf simulator: offers active recreation inside the office footprint.
- E-bikes: support mobility and encourage active commutes or on-site movement.
The project uses coastal-inspired finishes to connect the interior to Dana Point's environment. The overall aesthetic is hospitality-driven and residential in tone rather than strictly corporate.
CareTrust wanted a headquarters that signaled who they are as an organization: collaborative, energetic, and connected to place. The hospitality-first layout encourages informal encounters and gives employees options for focused work, socializing, and physical activity. Those choices are meant to support recruitment, retention, and day-to-day team connection as the company continues to grow.

What this design delivers for readers evaluating workplace projects
This project demonstrates a compact but amenity-rich approach to headquarters design for a mid-size company. It shows how hospitality cues, a residential kitchen/lounge, and dedicated recreation and wellness features can be integrated within a 6,200 sq ft footprint to shape day-to-day behavior and reflect local context.
If you're planning a similar HQ or office refresh, the CareTrust example is relevant when the goals include stronger team connection, more intentional wellness programming, and a workplace identity tied to place.
