How it works

It will record the details of specific events, like your family holiday to Barbados, but the weeks/months of just going to work, doing the daily grind, coming home, cooking, eating, doing basic evening...
Your brain has done the route so many times that it knows not to long-term record the events.
Unless something different/unusual happens, which needs filing, it chalks it up to "more of the same".
It puts a tick against the fact you did that journey, but doesn't note down every second of the journey.
So when we think back the period seems much quicker/shorter than it actually was.

What to take from it

It effectively does the same for a longer passage of time, like a year.
