Fat Dog have shared a new single, "Call It What You Want," and used the release to announce additional UK instore and outstore appearances plus their first Australian tour. The track is a preview of their forthcoming second album, Cancel Me (I'm Tired), which is scheduled for release on October 2 through Domino.
"Call It What You Want" centers on rave-inflected synths with strong nods to post-punk. Thematically, it deals with doubt, frustration and uncertainty. Frontman Joe Love described the song as a reflection on family patterns and the worry that those patterns might repeat: "That's me looking at people in my family and their problems and thinking, 'Is it gonna be the same for me? Is it in my DNA?'"
The music video for the single was shot at Fat Dog's Woofstock gig in Bermondsey. The band has been building momentum on the live circuit, and the new video captures that stage energy.
To promote the new album, Fat Dog have scheduled a series of instore and outstore shows around the UK at Rough Trade locations and other independent venues. Several of those instore matinee slots are already marked as sold out. The band's live run also includes headline dates and festival appearances across Europe before the album drops, plus a string of UK shows toward the end of the year.
Fat Dog will carry the album cycle to Australia for the first time. The Australian run starts on December 10 in Brisbane and includes Meredith Music Festival, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth with the tour running through mid-December.
• Early September festival appearances, including PHE Festival (Tenerife) and End of the Road.
• October 23 O2 Academy Brixton headline performance.
• November and December include European dates across France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK, followed by the December Australian dates starting in Brisbane on December 10.
Fat Dog are continuing to translate the energy of their debut album into new material and live growth. The single and its live-shot video point to the band's emphasis on performance, while the expanded instore schedule and first Australian dates show a step toward broader international touring during the Cancel Me (I'm Tired) release cycle.
Expect the full album on October 2 and more live activity tied to that release. Ticketing links and a full list of shows were published alongside the single announcement.
