Religious exuberance and festive splendour marked Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations across Jammu division on Friday. Like elsewhere in the country, in Jammu, since morning, the elegantly decorated temples witnessed a huge rush of devotees, many of whom were observing fast. The devotees participated in "Abhishek" (bathing) ceremony of idols of little Shri Krishna.

• Throughout the day, the temples reverberated with prayers to be continued till midnight till the culmination of celebrations with the distribution of "Charnamrit" and "prasad" and devotees breaking their fast.
• The events witnessed lively participation of "Govindas", adding to the fervour of the day i.e., the birthday of Shri Krishna.
• Janmashtami was also celebrated in Samba with immense religious fervour, devotion and festive enthusiasm at the historic Narsingh temple Ghagwal, which witnessed a large influx of devotees throughout the day.
• Deputy Commissioner Samba Ayushi Sudan visited the temple on the auspicious occasion and participated in the celebrations.
• She also interacted with devotees, local artisans, women entrepreneurs and vendors, appreciating their contribution towards preserving the region's traditional crafts and promoting local livelihoods.
