Clover Health is recruiting a remote Actuarial Analyst to join an actuarial rotational program focused on Medicare Advantage. The position places actuaries in a role that combines quantitative modeling with applied business analysis across several actuarial disciplines. The job is remote (U.S.-based) and intended for candidates who want broad exposure before specializing.
Expect to perform quantitative analyses supporting financial forecasting, medical cost analysis, revenue optimization, reserving, pricing, risk adjustment, and value-based care initiatives. You will develop and maintain analytical models that use actuarial principles and statistical methods applied to large healthcare datasets. Typical outputs include reports, dashboards, and executive presentations that translate complex findings into business actions.
Rotational structure and learning goals
This role rotates across multiple actuarial disciplines so you gain a wide view of the Medicare Advantage business. Early milestones are specific and measurable:
- First 90 days: build relationships across the Actuarial organization, learn Clover's analytical tools, financial models, and reporting processes, and contribute to recurring analyses.
- After 6 months: independently own recurring analyses, deliver timely insights, complete the first rotation, and develop modeling and forecasting expertise.
Longer-term expectations include becoming a trusted analytical partner to business leaders, developing multi-discipline actuarial expertise, and progressing toward actuarial credentials while moving into a specialized role.
The role requires 2–4 years of experience in healthcare finance, analytics, actuarial work, consulting, strategy, operations, or related fields. Candidates must have completed one or more Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams. Experience specific to Medicare Advantage, managed care, or value-based healthcare is preferred but not strictly required.
- Required: SQL and Excel.
- Preferred: Python, R, GitHub, and business intelligence platforms.
Analytical and communication abilities are emphasized: strong quantitative problem-solving, experience working with large datasets, and the ability to translate technical analyses into actionable business insights and presentations.
You will partner closely with experienced actuaries and cross-functional leaders on operational and financial performance questions. Typical projects include analyzing utilization trends, revenue drivers, risk adjustment performance, and medical costs to support financial planning and strategic decisions. The role also seeks candidates who can identify process improvements and automate analyses.
Clover lists a competitive base salary plus equity opportunities and a performance-based bonus program. The benefits package highlights 401(k) matching and regular compensation reviews. Health benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, and the company makes specific mention of mental health support.
This position is suited to analytical professionals who enjoy working with large healthcare datasets, want structured rotational exposure across actuarial functions, and plan to continue toward actuarial credentials. The role favors applicants comfortable with technical tools (SQL/Excel) and interested in healthcare finance, especially Medicare Advantage.
