Packers’ interior offensive line remains unresolved and could hurt 2026 outlook

The Packers made notable changes across the offensive line in the offseason, with Jordan Morgan stabilizing at left tackle and Zach Bako-Bewele expected to provide stability at right tackle when healthy. Those moves help the edge, but the interior remains unsettled. Both guard positions carry question marks entering the season opener against the Chicago Bears.

Banks to a large contract to be the starting left guard in 2025, but injuries have limited his production since the move. He appears healthier now but has not yet returned to the level he displayed during his four years with the 49ers. If Banks does not regain that form, Green Bay could turn to Jager Burton. Burton showed flashes during offseason work but demonstrated in the preseason that he still has significant development to do before earning a starting role full time.

Right guard: Anthony Belton, the 2025 second-round pick, had an opportunity to win the job but failed to seize it. That left Jacob Monk as the Week 1 starter, largely because the Packers lacked alternative proven options. Monk's role is current out of necessity rather than clear performance advantage.

Behind the two presumptive starters the depth chart is thin. Burton offers upside but needs more time to be ready. Donovan Jennings remains on the roster as a depth piece but is not positioned as a reliable long-term starter at this stage of his career. If Banks or Monk struggle or miss time, Green Bay's options become limited.

Pass protection: Jordan Love experienced inconsistent protection last season. Weaknesses at guard would increase pressure and sacks, constraining Love's decision-making and the passing game.

Run game: Guard play affects ability to establish a consistent running attack. Unresolved interior play can reduce yardage and limit play-action effectiveness, which in turn makes the offense easier to defend.

• Best-case: Banks regains his pre-injury form and Monk holds the right guard job, letting the interior settle and allowing the tackles and skill positions to carry the offense.

• Worst-case: One or both guards underperform or miss time, forcing Jennings or other backups into starting roles and increasing pressure on Love and the offense as a whole.

• Week-to-week performance grades for Banks and Monk in run- and pass-blocking.
• Snap counts and rotation patterns that reveal whether coaches trust Burton or Jennings.
• Sack and pressure rates allowed on Jordan Love compared with last season.

Green Bay improved at the tackles, but unresolved guard play is the roster concern most likely to limit the offense. The Packers can avoid significant problems if Banks returns to form and Monk holds up, but the current depth behind them suggests a real risk if either player falters.
