Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition coming to Switch 2, but it’s not a Switch 2 Edition DLC

The useful part

Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition has been announced for Nintendo Switch 2, updating the musou prequel to Breath of the Wild for the newer hardware when it arrives on 25th February 2027. But… there could be a bit of a catch, because this isn't a Switch 2 Edition. An upgrade path is available for owners of the original release, but it is merely a 50% discount on a new full-priced release.

How it works

• Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition will deliver a major improvement with higher game resolution, 60fps support and a bit of a revamp that will ramp up the number of enemies on screen at once.
• Even with this, the game is able to push GameShare with support for two players locally or online via GameChat.
• This will also include all of the Expansion Pass DLC content, while introducing a new Calamity difficulty mode for those that really want a challenge.
• The store page is now live, confirming that the standard price is £49.99 for this complete bundle, which is significantly cheaper that the game on Switch 1.

What to take from it

On the older system, the standard edition is £49.99, while the Expansion Pass tacks another £17.99 on top. An upgrade path is available, but it's practically unique within Nintendo's published library of games as a discount is applied for a digital copy of the Switch 2 release, as opposed to a Switch 2 Edition DLC bundle. This, we've been able to confirm, is a 50% discount, marking the game down to £24.99 in the UK.
