Insta360 launched the Luna Pro globally at $599.99 and confirmed official US sales beginning September 10, 2026. The Luna Pro is the single-lens member of Insta360's Luna Series, co-engineered with Leica. It brings many features seen in the higher-priced Luna Pro Ultra into a more accessible package while keeping the detachable-screen form factor.

Summicron lens (F1.8, 20 mm equivalent) paired with a 1-inch 8K sensor. Insta360 reports 14 stops of dynamic range. The camera supports both Dolby Vision 8K video and 10-bit I-Log for color grading workflows.

The Luna Pro records 8K (7680×4320) at 30/25/24 fps and offers native 4K vertical video with 6K oversampling. Slow-motion modes include 4K at 120 fps and 1080p at 240 fps. Zoom options are:

  • 4K Clarity Zoom: 2× lossless
  • 4× HighRes Zoom with AI enhancement to preserve detail

Other capture modes include a dedicated portrait mode that produces 80 mm-equivalent stills and 4K60 portrait video. Color profiles labeled Leica Natural, Leica Vivid and Leica Chrome are provided alongside cinematic filters.

Stabilization, tracking and processing

The camera includes 3-axis stabilization and multiple tracking features handled by a Dual AI Chip architecture: a dedicated imaging chip plus a 4 nm flagship chip. Tracking features listed are Deep Track 5.0, Rapid Focus, Group Tracking and Auto Tracking.

Form factor, controls and accessories

A detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen doubles as a remote with a built-in microphone and up to 20 m wireless range. It rotates for vertical shooting and offers slide-to-start and twist-to-shoot controls. Luna Pro weighs 215 g (Cosmic Black) or 218 g (Stellar White). Accessories and connectivity:

  • POV Head Tracker for first-person shooting
  • NFC pairing to compatible phones and the Insta360 app
  • Direct connection to Insta360 Mic Air and Mic Pro

Battery configuration: two batteries — a 1550 mAh battery for the gimbal and a 210 mAh battery for the detachable touchscreen. Rated battery life is up to 4 hours and a fast charge cycle takes about 23 minutes. Storage includes 47 GB built-in plus microSD support up to 2 TB.

Luna Pro records 10-bit I-Log and supports ACES workflows. Built-in timecode syncs footage across multiple cameras and integrates with Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.

How it compares to the Osmo Pocket 4 (practical points)

  • Price: Luna Pro listed at $599.99 vs roughly $477 for Osmo Pocket 4 (Canada price referenced).
  • Controls and features: Luna Pro retains a detachable screen and built-in timecode, plus advanced AI tracking implementation.

For buyers deciding between these gimbal cameras, geography and workflow needs (timecode, ACES support, detachable remote) will matter as much as price and raw specs.
