# What happened Leapmotor's China division released a significant update to the B10 SUV in July 2026. Leapmotor International says it will not push that hardware upgrade into overseas markets immediately. The international arm wants to avoid changing a model so soon after launching the export-spec B10 late in 2025.
# What's included in the Chinese update China update introduced multiple hardware changes:
- New 800V electrical architecture on higher grades, enabling faster charging claims.
- Faster charging figures: 800V models claim 30–80% in about 16 minutes versus about 21 minutes for prior 400V versions.
- More powerful rear motor on the flagship, with higher claimed output and quicker 0–100 km/h time.
- Interior changes including a revised dashboard with a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch instrument cluster and a large augmented-reality head-up display.
Those specific hardware upgrades are not part of Leapmotor International's immediate export rollout.
# International skipped it Danilo Annese, Leapmotor International's commercial head for Enlarged Europe, explained the commercial reasoning. China's market tolerates very frequent product updates and customers respond quickly to new releases. Europe and other export markets behave differently: most customers acquire cars via replacement cycles, finance or lease, and a materially better version arriving months later can confuse buyers and reduce perceived value for recent purchasers.
Annese said the company will not refuse every China-developed update. Leapmotor International will adopt changes that materially improve a vehicle or resolve hardware problems that cannot be fixed with over-the-air software updates. For relatively minor changes, or when another substantial update is already forthcoming, the international arm may wait and take a later revision instead.
# How the export B10 compares today The international B10 launched late in 2025 and retains the 400V electrical architecture. Its electric variants use roughly 56.2 kWh and 67.1 kWh batteries with a rear-mounted motor producing about 160 kW and 240 Nm. Claimed WLTP range figures for the export specification are approximately 361 km or 434 km depending on the variant. The China update's higher range figures are reported on the lenient CLTC cycle and use different battery and motor configurations.
# What this means for buyers and dealers For current international customers, the decision reduces the risk that the model in their driveway is replaced almost immediately by a substantially different hardware package. Dealers and launch teams gain stability in product messaging while Leapmotor assesses which China updates are worth importing.
For prospective buyers, Leapmotor can still deliver software improvements to the export B10, but larger batteries, the 800V charging system, the more powerful motor and redesigned cabin will remain exclusive to China unless and until Leapmotor International decides to adopt them for later international model years.
# Bottom line Leapmotor International balanced the technical appeal of 800V charging and bigger batteries against the commercial risk of undermining recently launched export models. The company will bring over China-developed hardware only when it produces a clear, material benefit for export customers or fixes hardware issues that software cannot address.
