Opening batter Ella McCaughan has extended her contract with Hampshire for two years, keeping the 23-year-old at the Utilita Bowl until at least the end of the 2028 season after a productive 2025–26 run.
McCaughan has signed a two-year deal that keeps her at Hampshire through the 2028 season.
Since 2025 she has scored around 1,400 runs at an average of 38, including three centuries across formats since 2025.
She became the first woman to score a Vitality Blast century and has more than 3,000 career runs with three centuries and 15 fifties.

McCaughan, 23, produced a breakout period across 2025 and 2026. Since the start of 2025 she has scored 1,400 runs at an average of 38. This summer to date she had accumulated 710 runs, including three fifties and one century.
Notable individual innings include an unbeaten 133 while chasing 293 against Lancashire at Southport, and a century of 106 in the Vitality Blast at Chelmsford in 2025. The century at Chelmsford made her the first woman to score a hundred in the Vitality Blast. She also hit a hundred as part of an unbroken opening chase of 246 with Maia Bouchier against Essex in 2026.
Across her career McCaughan has passed 3,000 runs, with three centuries and 15 half-centuries to her name.

McCaughan started at Sussex as a teenager and made her professional regional debut for Southern Vipers in 2020. She was part of the Vipers side that won the inaugural Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and went on to collect five titles with the Vipers: three 50-over trophies and two T20 trophies, including both formats in 2023.
Hampshire describe her as a consistent top-order batter and an excellent fielder.
