Overview
Kia has revealed the PV7, a larger follow-up to the PV5 that targets both passenger and cargo markets. The PV7 is built on Kia's modular e-GMP.S platform and will arrive in showrooms in the second half of 2027.
Size and seating
Battery, range and charging
Two NMC battery packs are offered: a 71.5 kWh standard pack and a 96.2 kWh long-range pack. Kia quotes an upper-range figure of up to 285 miles for the long-range pack. All PV7s use an 800V electrical architecture capable of accepting DC fast charging at up to 350 kW. With the larger battery fitted, Kia states a 10–80% charge in around 25 minutes.
Powertrain and performance
Every PV7 uses a front-mounted electric motor delivering 262 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. Kia has not confirmed a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant for launch, although future AWD versions for cold-weather markets are not ruled out.
Cargo capability and commercial features
The PV7 Cargo can be specified with two- or three-seat cabins and offers more than six square metres of rear loadspace, rising to about 8.1 square metres in the high-roof version. Payload is rated at 1,165 kg, higher than comparable electric rivals cited in the release. Tailgate options include twin barn doors or a conventional lifting tailgate, plus powered sliding doors and a load-through bulkhead for long items.
Interior and equipment
Kia fits its Pleos Connect infotainment system with either a 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch touchscreen. The PV7's cabin is more upmarket than the PV5's, featuring an upholstered dashboard, new ambient lighting and redesigns that free up storage space by relocating the passenger airbag to the roof. Top trims include separate rear climate controls, multiple USB charging points and interior lighting for rear occupants.
Exterior and variants
Styling follows Kia's current language with more complex surfacing, slightly flared wheelarches and a revised windowline. A glass roof option and new wheel designs are available. Kia plans additional body variants over time, including a slightly shorter version to fit between the PV5 and PV7, a cab-chassis model for custom beds, and high-roof and conversion versions suitable for camper conversions.
