Maui County will host a series of in-person budget meetings starting Sept. 16 so residents can give written or verbal input before the Fiscal Year 2028 budget is prepared; submissions also accepted online and via a budget request form.
Residents may provide written or verbal comments at meetings, submit budget requests using the County’s Budget Request Form, or watch meetings on the County of Maui Facebook page.
Meeting dates include sessions coordinated with Holomua Kākou for Lāna‘i and East Maui (Hāna).
Mayor Richard Bissen and his administration are holding community budget meetings across Maui County so residents can share priorities and give input on the Fiscal Year 2028 budget, which starts July 1, 2027. Written and verbal comments are accepted at the meetings. The County is also accepting budget requests through an online Budget Request Form.
County services, programs, and projects affect daily life for residents. The administration says community feedback helps departments prepare budgets that reflect local needs. The mayor encouraged residents to attend or submit feedback online so community voices are represented.
Come prepared to state the program, service, or project you want funded, why it matters to your community, and any cost or timing information you have. If you submit a Budget Request Form online, include supporting details and contact information so department staff can follow up.
Departments will use collected input while preparing budget proposals for Fiscal Year 2028. The administration's outreach indicates the County intends to factor public priorities into budget development ahead of the new fiscal year beginning July 1, 2027.
