# What JanAI is launching
JanAI Technology Private Limited has launched with an explicit goal: bring AI-powered services to 100 million households across Bharat in three years. The company will deliver these services through a physical network of 10,000 JanAI Cafes run by trained local entrepreneurs.
The first public version of the platform is live across nine JanAI Cafes, including seven launched in Mysuru and Prayagraj districts.
# Leadership and partnerships
Vishwesh Pai — a product leader and investor with two decades of experience at companies including Atlassian, ServiceNow, Amazon and Samsung — joined as Co-Founder and CEO. Madan Padaki, founder of JanAI, will serve as Co-Founder and Chief Evangelist. Head Held High Foundation is the Community Capability and Resilience Partner.
# Product strategy and design choices
JanAI will not build its own foundation models. Instead it will use open-source and Indic speech models and assemble technology that addresses local needs. Core technical elements described by the company:
- A voice pipeline tuned for Indian dialects and noisy rural environments.
- AI agent orchestration to combine capabilities.
- A consent architecture designed around India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
- JanAI Asha: a voice-first assistant accessible by phone call or two-way app in Indian languages that works without typing or English.
- JanAI Adopt: a platform layer for AI agents, knowledge, scheme eligibility checks and data privacy.
- JanAI Bazaar: a marketplace for services spanning finance, health, agriculture, education, jobs, MSMEs and government schemes.
The company intends to integrate public digital infrastructure to make government schemes, jobs and finance easier to access via voice.
# The JanAI Cafe model
The company describes the cafes as community enterprises: the hope is that each cafe becomes owned by the village it serves, with local entrepreneurs operating them.
# Early services and partnerships
# The central challenge ahead
JanAI's stated challenge is operational: convert an ambitious numeric target into a sustainable last-mile model. The company places local entrepreneurs between AI and end users, betting that access, language and trust will matter as much as the technology. The model will be tested on whether voice-first AI plus community-run centres can reliably deliver government, financial and livelihood outcomes at scale.
