Doping strategy, not surface area, proves key to better graphene capacitor electrodes
The team synthesized a series of doped reduced graphene oxide (rGO) materials using a modified Hummers' method followed by hydrothermal doping, introducing boron, fluorine, nitrogen and sulfur in both dual-element and quaternary (four-element) combinations. Each variant was characterized structurally (XRD, Raman spectroscopy, BET surface area analysis, XPS, SEM) and tested electrochemically in half-cell configurations using galvanostatic charge-discharge, cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy.
