Canon updates imagePROGRAF TM and TX lines with 12 new large-format models

Canon has released an updated generation of its imagePROGRAF TM and TX large-format printer families. The refresh comprises 12 models designed for technical printing (CAD, GIS, technical docs) and professional output such as posters and point-of-sale materials.

• Canon positions the TM family for small and medium architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) businesses and in-house print environments.
• 36-inch TM models deliver A1 print speeds up to 3.2 pages per minute.

• Canon targets the TX models at larger AEC and manufacturing organisations, corporate and government departments, and print service providers.
• TX models offer A1 print speeds up to 3.3 pages per minute.
• Notable workflow and production features include dual-roll media handling, hot-swappable ink tanks, automated calibration and a pull-out basket designed to stack drawings face-down while preserving print order.

Both series use high-density matte black ink and updated image processing to improve line precision and detail reproduction — features important for CAD drawings, maps and technical documentation as well as for posters.

Canon says the new models use increased quantities of recycled materials: up to 25% recycled plastic and 5% recycled iron in components. Packaging is EPS-free.

Duncan Smith, country director, production at Canon UK & Ireland, described the refresh as designed to simplify workflows and help organisations produce quality output quickly while coordinating across stakeholders and locations.

• Small and medium AEC teams or in-house print shops that need occasional scanning and compact multifunction workflows should consider the TM-510M or TM-610M for faster digitisation of legacy drawings.
• Larger print shops, government or corporate reprographics wanting higher throughput, dual-roll flexibility and security controls should evaluate the TX models.
• Organisations prioritising recycled materials and reduced packaging waste will find modest improvements in component and packaging sustainability.
