Three Italian hospitals have broken into the top 10 of Newsweek's World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2027 ranking, with Rome's Bambino Gesù children's hospital, the Policlinico Gemelli and Milan's Besta neurological institute all singled out for excellence. Gesù paediatric hospital climbed two places to rank fourth in the world out of around 800 hospitals assessed in 35 countries, confirming its status as the top children's hospital in Europe and the only Italian hospital in the global top 25 for the category. Rome's Policlinico Gemelli was the only Italian hospital to feature in all 13 specialities considered, topping the national table in four of them: gastroenterology, endocrinology, pulmonology and obstetrics and gynaecology, the last of which also earned it third place worldwide.
