Useful takeaways from this story.

Technopark’s engineering laboratory is the first engineering lab in an Indian IT park to receive NABL accreditation for testing and calibration competence.

The accredited facilities test construction and electrical materials to Indian Standards, support Technopark’s infrastructure decisions, and are available to developers and nearby companies.

The electrical lab can repair LED fixtures and drivers, offering a route to reduce e-waste and operating costs.

Technopark's engineering laboratory — which includes civil and electrical testing facilities established on its Phase I campus — has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). According to the park's statement, this makes Technopark the first IT park in India to have an NABL-accredited engineering lab.

NABL accreditation is a third-party recognition of a laboratory's technical competence to perform specific tests and calibrations. For Technopark, accreditation means the lab's procedures, personnel, equipment and reporting meet the general requirements NABL applies to testing and calibration labs. That gives Technopark a formal, verifiable basis for quality control of construction and electrical works across its campus.

The civil engineering lab currently performs tests on concrete and other construction materials against Indian Standards (IS). The Engineering Department says the lab issues timely results and follows IS specifications used in Technopark's projects.

The electrical laboratory handles low-tension (LT) and high-tension (HT) material testing and has provisions to repair LED fixtures, drivers and related components. Repair work in the electrical lab is positioned to reduce e-waste and lower replacement costs for electrical components used in campus infrastructure.

Primary beneficiaries are Technopark's own infrastructure teams, who gain a local, accredited facility to verify material performance and compliance during construction and maintenance. The lab is also available to developers and companies located in and around Technopark for independent testing and compliance checks.

Operational and practical implications

The civil lab displays some older, antique machinery that illustrate past technology. The lab's scope covers tests aligned to IS specifications. NABL operates under the Quality Council of India and provides independent assessment of laboratory competence. Technopark opened the civil and electrical labs last year and has now completed the process to obtain accreditation.

Technopark's NABL accreditation gives the park a formally recognized testing capability for construction and electrical materials. That capability is intended to support Technopark's internal infrastructure quality controls and is open for use by nearby developers and companies, with potential operational benefits such as faster verification, reduced material-related failures, and cutbacks in e-waste through repair services.
