What's happening

Dates, venue, and practical note

  • Dates: 25–27 September 2026.
  • Venue: Weavers' Bastion, administered by the Brașov County History Museum. The courtyard will be converted into a live-music space for the festival.
  • Tickets and further information: https://transilvaniablues.ro

Programming at a glance

The festival expands to a three-day format and presents a mix of international and Romanian artists.

  • Opens with Italian trio Gloria and the Doctors, led by singer/drummer Gloria Turrini. Their sound blends blues, soul and Afro-American influences. They were runners-up at the 2026 European Blues Challenge in Katowice and will appear in Romania for the first time. Their latest album, Dat Nola Trip, was recorded in New Orleans.
  • Headline set: Robbin Kapsalis & Giles Robson Band. Kapsalis, born in Chicago and based in Atlanta, released solo debut The Blues Is in the House (2025), which earned a 2026 Blues Music Award nomination for Best Emerging Artist Album. Giles Robson, a British harmonica player with an established relationship to the festival, returns after previous appearances.
  • John Németh follows as the evening's major draw. A multiple Blues Music Award winner, Németh's work moves between blues, soul, gospel and R&B and reflects classic American traditions.

Sunday 27 September — Blüesferatü: Nosferatu cine-concert

  • The festival's final night is a cine-concert titled Blüesferatü — Eine Symphonie des Blues. Six Brașov musicians perform an original psychedelic blues score live to F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent film Nosferatu.
  • The project first appeared in 2023 and has toured venues such as Bran Castle and TIFF Timișoara. For 2026 it expands with holographic installations, VR experiences, new visual elements and a new animated interpretation by visual artists Costin Chioreanu and Olivia Chioreanu.

Why the move matters for visitors

Hosting the festival in the Weavers' Bastion courtyard changes the atmosphere and links the music program to cultural tourism. The medieval setting offers visiting fans the chance to combine concerts with time in Brașov, a well-known historic city. The festival continues to cultivate international relationships while maintaining ties to Romania's local blues scene.

International scope and local ties

Since its start, Transilvania Blues Festival has worked with musicians and promoters across Europe and the United States. The 2026 lineup reflects that international approach while keeping visible connections to the Brașov blues community—Giles Robson's recurring presence is one example.

Takeaway for planning

If you plan to attend, check the festival website for tickets and practical details. Expect evening outdoor shows in a medieval courtyard, a mix of established international names and artists making their Romanian debuts, and a Sunday closing performance presented as an immersive cine-concert experience.
