Panerai adapts the 1990s Luminor Ref. 5218 family into a new 42 mm case for the first time, keeping the crown-protection bridge and sharp case geometry.
All three models use the 4.2 mm-thick automatic P.980 movement (3-day power reserve, 4 Hz) hidden under a screwed caseback.
# What Panerai changed Panerai has taken one of its defining 1990s Luminor case designs and reduced the diameter to 42 mm for the PAM01710, PAM01711 and PAM01714. The design lineage traces to the 1993 Luminor Ref. 5218-201/A and the Luminor Marina Militare Ref. 5218-202/A. That era replaced the older 47 mm military proportions with a 44 mm civilian shape defined by sharper edges, solid lugs and the integrated crown-protection bridge. The new 42 mm models retain those angular lines while creating a more compact, wearable package.

# Dial, readability and layout Panerai keeps the functional dial formula: large printed numerals and hour markers treated with Super-LumiNova for low-light visibility. The graphics are printed on a single dial plate and the luminous material is applied in layers, creating a slightly raised, three-dimensional effect on the numerals. All three watches omit a date display and keep the small seconds at 9 o'clock — a layout historically used so divers could confirm the watch was running at a glance.
# Colorways and straps PAM01710: polished/brushed steel case, matte black dial, ecru printing, ivory-coloured luminous material, paired with a beige canvas strap. PAM01711: same steel case, matte green dial, matching green canvas strap. PAM01714: DLC-treated steel case, matte blue dial, beige-coloured luminous material, blue canvas strap. The canvas straps are reinforced with leather around the holes, follow Panerai's 22/20 dimensions, and can be swapped using Panerai's PAM Click Release System for other strap types.
