Hyundai has started accepting bookings for the Bayon midsize SUV in India at a token amount of Rs 11,000. The carmaker positions the model as an “Intelligent Utility Vehicle” with a focus on technology, safety, comfort, performance and style.

Hyundai positions the Bayon between smaller crossovers and the Creta, aiming toward buyers who want a compact-to-midsize SUV with modern technology and roomy packaging. The company describes the Bayon as an "Intelligent Utility Vehicle" and lists five development priorities: Intelligence, Safety, Comfort, Performance and Style.
The Bayon measures around 4.2 metres in length. Hyundai describes several exterior design elements intended to give the car a wide, dynamic stance: a sculpted bonnet, futuristic front fascia with Hyundai's H-Edge LED daytime running lights, geometric wheel arches, wrap-around door cladding and bridge-type roof rails. Hyundai also says the Bayon's packaging makes efficient use of interior space, with good legroom, headroom and shoulder room for occupants.
A central selling point for the Bayon is its technology stack. Hyundai has included an in-built generative AI voice assistant to enable more natural interaction between driver and vehicle. The company markets this feature as part of a connected and intelligent driving experience, although the detailed list of connected services and integration options will be confirmed closer to launch.
Hyundai builds the Bayon on its Global K Enhanced Platform. The company states the platform has been engineered to meet 5-star Indian safety standards based on Hyundai's internal assessment. Hyundai emphasises structural rigidity and occupant protection, and it points to advanced safety technology as core elements of the model. Specific safety equipment and crash-test ratings will be released after the official launch.
The Bayon will be available with a petrol powertrain. Transmission choices include a manual gearbox and Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). Hyundai says the powertrain is tuned to deliver a refined, responsive and fuel-efficient experience suitable for both city and highway driving. Exact engine specifications, fuel economy figures and performance numbers have not been published yet.
Hyundai has not shared final pricing, detailed variant levels, exact launch date, delivery timelines or full specification sheets. These items are expected closer to the festive-season launch.
The Bayon aims to combine modern in-car technology with compact-midsize SUV packaging. Hyundai is positioning it to appeal to buyers who prioritise connectivity and safety alongside conventional SUV attributes.
