Klampfer Druck installs Heidelberg Jetfire 50 to handle shorter runs and personalization

Klampfer Druck is a full-service Austrian printer based in St. Ruprecht an der Raab with about 100 employees across five locations. It produces commercial print and folding cartons and operates offset equipment including a Speedmaster XL 106 and Speedmaster CX 104 in three-shift production, plus toner-based digital presses.

The company installed a Heidelberg Jetfire 50 industrial inkjet press at the end of August. Management framed the decision as a response to customer demand for shorter runs, personalised products and faster turnaround. For run lengths in the 1,000–2,000-copy range, toner-based digital presses or offset are often not economical, so the Jetfire 50 fills that gap and lets the team choose the optimal press for each job.

Capabilities and workflow integration

Jobs that previously required separate offset and digital stages can now be finished in a single pass on the Jetfire 50. Klampfer is already using the press for calendars, personalised gift certificates and mailings. This reduces handoffs between presses, shortens lead times and simplifies planning for mixed-production runs.

The company is evaluating a move to Heidelberg's Prinect Touch Free workflow, which would extend automation across offset and digital printing. That step would further reduce manual intervention and could streamline integration between presses and finishing equipment.

The Jetfire 50 has been brought online quickly thanks to digitally experienced staff and requires only a short training period. Klampfer's reported availability figure and workflow integration indicate the press is operating in standard production rather than as an experimental installation.

Expect shorter lead times for small to mid-size runs, more options for personalised print items and fewer multi-stage production processes. For clients ordering mixed offset and digital elements, Klampfer can now consolidate those tasks onto a single machine in many cases.
