Useful takeaways from this story.

About 100 taxis in the Magical Taxi Tour convoy will all be LEVC TX models, the first time the charity event has used a single model across its fleet.

Every taxi in the fleet will be zero-exhaust-emission capable via the TX’s electric driving and range-extender system.

LEVC supplied vehicles, donations, practical support and spending money for participating families.

Tour is an annual charity convoy that takes children with life-threatening conditions and their families to Disneyland Paris. In its 31st year, around 100 black cabs are expected to make the journey, and for the first time since the tour began in 1995 every vehicle in the convoy will be the LEVC TX model.

This milestone means the tour's entire fleet will be zero-exhaust-emission capable. The TX combines electric driving with a range-extender system that lets drivers switch between electric operation and extended-range capability as needed for long distances.

Accessibility and passenger features

The TX is configured for passengers who need mobility support. Key accessibility and comfort features listed by LEVC include:

  • Capacity for up to six passengers.
  • Integrated ramp able to accommodate a forward-facing wheelchair.
  • Hearing induction loop and braille-equipped switches.
  • Step, swivel passenger seat and high-visibility handles.

These features are intended to make the journey easier for children who use wheelchairs and for families who need additional assistance.

The TX model was introduced in 2018. LEVC says the TX now represents about 70% of London's licensed taxi fleet. The company also reported that TX vehicles have collectively saved more than 450 million kilograms of CO2 globally since they went on sale.

Tony Chi, CEO of LEVC, commented that the tour brings the taxi trade together to support children and families and expressed pride in the company's ongoing support and the all-TX convoy.

Phillip Davis, founder of the Magical Taxi Tour, said it is a privilege to be involved and thanked sponsors and volunteers who make the event possible. He noted the comfort, accessibility and cleaner transport provided by the latest TX models used in the convoy.

Using a single accessible EV-capable model for the entire convoy reduces local exhaust emissions during the journey and standardises vehicle capability for drivers and support teams. Donated vehicles and financial support help reduce the burden on participating families and enable the tour to run at scale.

Tour has run since 1995. This year's all-TX convoy is presented as a notable milestone for the event and for LEVC, given the model's prevalence in London's taxi fleet.
