Military Boekelo-Enschede stages its 55th edition Oct. 1–4 with a robust CCIO4*-L entry. The published list shows 85 riders representing 15 nations and a combined 106 horses. Great Britain is the largest single contingent, entering 19 riders with 23 horses.

The field mixes team-focused riders contesting the FEI Eventing Nations Cup and individual combinations aiming to confirm themselves as championship or future five-star contenders.

  • Lara de Liedekerke-Meier returns as the defending Boekelo champion and is entered on three horses: La La Land D'Arville, Call Me Senorita, and Quintus. This will be her twentieth appearance at the event.
  • Britain's squad includes 2022 World Champion Yasmin Ingham, riding the 9-year-old Kinda Corvette for a second CCI4*-L, plus Tom McEwen (Isa), Caroline Harris (Lester CKV), and Burghley winner Gemma Stevens with the Chilli Morning clone Chilli Morning IV and Cooley Park Muze.
  • Cup: Hallie Coon (Sirius SB), Jack Curtis (Luska Candy Clover), Allie Knowles (LS Crown Royal and Montpellier Scais), and Lauren Nicholson (Landmark's Jungle Gold).
  • Germany's entries include Julia Krajewski with the Selle Français Ero de Cantraie and Ingrid Klimke on a 4*-L debutant, the 10-year-old Kallista.

Nations Cup format and implications

Organizers and the FEI have revised the Nations Cup structure. There are five qualifying legs at Marbach, Bicton, Strzegom, Avenches, and Lignières. Nations may compete at any or all legs, but only each nation's best three results count toward qualification. After those legs, the top nations advance to the Boekelo Final. The Series now resets scores at Boekelo so every qualified team starts the Final on zero.

Two slightly different phrasings appear in the release: it notes that nine selected teams will start the decisive competition with a clean slate, and elsewhere describes the top 10 nations progressing to the Boekelo Final. The consistent outcome is that Boekelo's Final will be a winner-takes-all contest where prior points do not carry over.

Germany is defending the Nations Cup title. Other confirmed Nations Cup contenders listed include Belgium, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States. Boekelo has traditionally functioned as a late-season test and a stepping stone for horses being prepared for championships and higher-level events.

Adrian Ditcham returns as course designer for his seventh Boekelo. He has prepared a course that will be ridden in the opposite direction to previous years, a change that can alter lines, approaches, and how ground is used across the venue.
