# What Kiefer is doing and why it matters
# Business model: vertical integration
Kiefer's stated goal is to control as many links of the value chain as possible: generate green energy, provide the computing power to run models, own the data and the models, and deliver the final applications to customers. The CEO, Christos Petrocheilos, describes the approach as producing tokens in-house — meaning Kiefer wants to internalize token generation and the related infrastructure rather than rely on external suppliers.
The company has an existing energy footprint: it implemented renewable energy projects totalling more than 600 MW. Kiefer plans to power its new computing installations with renewable electricity via bilateral Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) tied to its PV parks.
# Infrastructure plan: Megalopolis and Nvidia hardware
Kiefer identifies Megalopolis as the central site for its AI infrastructure. Initial design capacity is up to 10 MW, with staged expansion matching customer demand and product rollout. The company says it intends to deploy high-end Nvidia systems, including Nvidia DGX units and Blackwell GPUs, and aims to install what it calls the first Nvidia SuperPOD in Greece.
The CEO provided an indicative figure for equipment cost: about €80 million per 1 MW of Nvidia-equivalent kit, illustrating why the total programme requires substantial capital.
# Products and technology stack
Kiefer is developing an ecosystem branded Sophea and other tools:
- Sophea Meet: records, transcribes and summarises meetings.
- Sophea Nous: organises a company's internal knowledge and creates a specialised chatbot trained on that data.
- Sophea-Titan-1: a Greek-language model with 27 billion parameters developed by Kiefer.
- A suite of nine open-source models, including Sophea ASR K1, which Kiefer reports achieves 97.1% accuracy in Greek.
- Hyperion: a digital trading desk platform that simulates the Earth every 15 minutes to forecast weather and production.
Kiefer also invests in robotic systems as part of its product mix.
# International expansion
Kiefer is moving beyond Greece. Trials of Sophea Meet and Sophea Nous are underway with businesses in Poland, with the aim of securing commercial contracts within 2026. A planned market entry into Germany is scheduled for October 2026. Subsequent target countries include Romania, Bulgaria, Italy and Austria.
# Funding and timing
Total plan: €175 million. Deployed to date: €25 million. Planned deployment over next two years: €150 million financed via own capital, bank loans and Recovery Fund support. Infrastructure deployment will scale with demand for Kiefer's products and services.
