Amazon launched Standard Ocean Express to route eligible seller ocean freight through the Port of Los Angeles and then by direct rail to East Coast fulfillment centers. The company announced the option on September 11 and the service is available now through Amazon Global Logistics for Seller Managed Placement bookings.
Sellers who use Seller Managed Placement can select Standard Ocean Express during their existing booking process. Amazon shows an ocean freight rate and an estimated delivery window at booking. Sellers already enrolled in the program do not need to register again or submit additional paperwork.
Amazon says licensed brokers and certified specialists handle customs clearance for Standard Ocean Express shipments. The company describes inspection rates as low but did not publish specific inspection statistics. The service moves inventory through the Port of Los Angeles, then onto a direct rail route to Amazon's East Coast fulfillment network.
