Tekmar Group has secured a EUR 6 million contract extension to deliver cable protection systems (CPS), associated accessories and specialist engineering services for a European offshore wind project. The company announced the award in a trading update on 29 September.
The extension covers Tekmar's CPS hardware plus ancillaries and in-house engineering, analysis and design services. Tekmar said it will manufacture the CPS and accessories at its Newton Aycliffe facility in the UK. The award is conditional on the project taking a final investment decision (FID), which the company currently expects in the first quarter of 2027.
The contract includes an option for a second project phase with a broadly similar scope and value. That option is dependent on the customer exercising it and the second phase itself reaching FID.
Financing to support growth and production
Tekmar also disclosed an additional GBP 4 million working capital facility (about EUR 4.7 million) to support growth in the European offshore wind market. This facility supplements an existing UKEF-backed trade loan via an invoice discounting arrangement. The company said the extra facility will provide greater flexibility to manage larger project sizes, production schedules and utilisation at its manufacturing assets.
Tekmar reported earlier in the year:
- A February contract worth more than GBP 4 million to supply its 10th-generation CPS and ancillaries to a European offshore wind project, with delivery expected in 2027.
- Two March contracts with a combined value of GBP 2 million for an offshore wind project in Japan.
- An approximately EUR 1 million award to supply concrete protection solutions for a "major" European offshore wind project (the company did not disclose the project or client names).
Tekmar said the contract supports initiatives under Project Aurora, its programme to deepen customer relationships and offer a more integrated engineering and asset protection package. The combination of manufacturing capacity, a widened financing facility and a series of recent contract wins indicates Tekmar is preparing for larger and more numerous European offshore wind projects.
The company did not name the project or the customer for the EUR 6 million extension, nor did it provide delivery timelines tied specifically to this award beyond the FID expectation.
Supply chain and manufacturing firms that provide cable protection and asset-protection systems play a practical role in offshore wind project execution. A conditional award of this size, coupled with incremental working capital, signals demand for larger CPS packages and the need for flexible financing and manufacturing capacity as project sizes increase in Europe.
Tekmar's EUR 6 million extension is a conditional but concrete commercial step that ties manufacturing capacity, short-term financing and a recent pipeline of orders together. If the target FID is reached in early 2027, Tekmar will be positioned to execute manufacturing at Newton Aycliffe and potentially move into a second-phase scope if the customer exercises the option.
