# What JA announced
JA has expanded its commercial and industrial (C&I) battery energy storage portfolio for Europe with two products: the DC-coupled hybrid JAPlanet Fusion and an updated AC-coupled system, JAPlanet 2.0. European pre-orders opened in the second half of September 2026.
# JAPlanet Fusion — hybrid DC-coupled cabinet
JAPlanet Fusion combines inverter, battery and backup hardware inside a single cabinet. Key published specifications: 125 kW rated power and 261 kWh of battery energy. The system accepts up to 250 kW of PV across 20 strings and supports 10 MPPTs. AC output can be configured to meet a site's permitted export limit.
Backup capability is integrated: a static transfer switch inside the cabinet detects grid failure and transfers to off-grid operation within 10 ms, according to the manufacturer. Parallel operation is supported for larger sites: up to 10 units on-grid and up to six units off-grid.
Thermal and safety features include liquid cooling, temperature/smoke/gas monitoring, aerosol fire suppression, and redundant ventilation. JA reports the system underwent system-level UL 9540A testing.
# JAPlanet 2.0 — updated AC-coupled option
JAPlanet 2.0 keeps the 125 kW / 261 kWh rating and the same 314 Ah cells and liquid cooling approach as the previous model, while updating performance and operational capabilities. The spec sheet lists a maximum round-trip efficiency of more than 90% (versus 90% previously). The unit can deliver rated output without derating at ambient temperatures up to 50°C and has an operating range of −25°C to 55°C.
Backup-related features include black-start capability and support for fully unbalanced three-phase output in backup mode. Parallel scaling is higher than the Fusion: up to 20 units on-grid and nine off-grid. An external static transfer switch is compatible, with switching within 20 ms.
JAPlanet 2.0 also lists remote diagnostics and over-the-air (OTA) updates. The cabinet weight is listed at roughly 2,700 kg, slightly lighter than the prior specification. The thermal management approach is claimed to reduce auxiliary power consumption by about 20% compared with conventional systems. Safety measures mirror Fusion's package: temperature, smoke and gas detection plus aerosol fire suppression, and multiple levels of UL 9540A testing.
# How JA positions the products
JA frames Fusion as a response to customers who want to upgrade aging solar assets while dealing with grid export limits and needing more resilience. By integrating solar, storage and rapid backup into one product, JA says installers and customers get a simplified design and deployment path that can increase solar utilization and site resilience.
JAPlanet 2.0 is presented as an incremental performance and operability update to its AC-coupled offering, with higher efficiency, broader temperature tolerance, remote maintenance features, and improved thermal efficiency.
# Deployment scale and use cases
Both products target commercial and industrial sites that require on-site resilience and higher solar utilization. Fusion's DC-coupled architecture and 250 kW PV input make it suitable where adding more PV behind a constrained export limit is desirable. JAPlanet 2.0 remains an AC-coupled option for sites that prefer separate inverter and PV arrangements or existing AC-coupled architectures.
# Certifications and safety
JA reports both systems underwent UL 9540A testing and include multi-sensor detection with aerosol fire suppression. Liquid cooling is used in both designs to manage cell temperatures and claimed auxiliary power reductions.
