Daffodils is a Second Life installation by Sheldon Bergman (SheldonBR) in the SLEA2 region that recreates the setting and mood of Wordsworth’s 1807 poem.
Visitors must touch the Landing Point sign and accept the Experience to receive the installation HUD and be teleported into the main landscape.
The installation pairs a rolling shoreline landscape, daffodils, a stone cabin, a country chapel, and grazing sheep with a curated local-music sequence (Satie, Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven).
# Overview Sheldon Bergman (SheldonBR) has opened Visual Poetry at SLEA2, presenting Daffodils — an immersive, experience-driven installation that recreates the mood and imagery of William Wordsworth's poem commonly known by its opening line, "I wandered lonely as a cloud." The installation invites visitors to move slowly through a landscape meant to evoke Glencoyne Bay and the memory that inspired Wordsworth in April 1802.
# How the experience works
# The setting and design The main installation is a rolling, green shoreline scattered with daffodils. Two buildings sit on the shore: a small stone cabin nearby and a country chapel farther away. Sheep graze on the hill. The chapel is positioned to reflect Wordsworth's evolving religious perspective, moving toward a more personal, nature-centered spirituality. Environmental settings shift toward a contemplative mood, echoing the poem's themes about memory lifting solitude into joy.
# Music and pacing Music is a deliberate component of the visit. The chosen sequence starts with Erik Satie's Gymnopédie No. 1, then proceeds to Chopin and Mozart, and finishes with Beethoven's Für Elise. The reviewer found the selection well suited to the mood but wished the tracks looped or continued beyond a single play-through and that there were one or two outdoor seating spots for longer, quiet pauses.
# Visitor purpose and tone
# Series potential and opening Daffodils was presented as part of Visual Poetry with a soft opening scheduled for 14:00 SLT on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The author of the review expressed hope that Visual Poetry might become a series presenting other poems, but also noted the practical work involved in creating such installations and did not confirm further plans.
# Practical notes
Daffodils aims for an understated, sensory interpretation of Wordsworth's poem rather than a literal reenactment. It uses landscape, ambient sound, and simple interactions to make visitors feel the poem's combination of solitude, memory, and joy.

So, a brief Exploring Second Life this time around – but hopefully a quirky and fun one, featuring a rather unusual and a little small destination. Museums are a popular form of expression in Second Life – and rightly so; Second Life is recognised as a valid tool for education, and museums are an ideal … Continue readi
