Barnes & Noble opens a new Tucson bookstore on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 9AM Mountain. The store anchors the Oracle Wetmore Shopping Center at 4380 N Oracle Rd, Suite 150, occupying the former Joann Fabrics space next to World Market.
The new location is over 16,000 square feet and is laid out to present a broad inventory: books across categories, toys and games, vinyl, DVDs and Blu-ray, magazines, greeting cards, and stationery. The site also includes a Barnes & Noble Café.
Opening events and community programming
The grand opening features local author Kathleen Glasgow cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her book The Glass Girl. Costume character Maisy will participate in story-time events over the opening weekend.
Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards Members earn double stamps on purchases made October 7–11. Opening-day shoppers will see additional offers such as $50 off certain NOOK devices and 40% off DVDs, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD movies.
James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble, is quoted saying, "Tucson has long been a wonderful home for Barnes & Noble, and we are delighted to be complementing our presence in the city with this beautiful new bookstore." Store Manager Bret Christopherson, with 21 years at Barnes & Noble, described bookselling as pairing enthusiasm for products with an understanding of how people discover books and said he looks forward to building a community around the new store.

The store adds a large-format Barnes & Noble presence to Tucson where the chain already operates two anchor bookstores (Westside and Eastside) plus a smaller mall location inside Tucson Mall. The new location aims to provide a wider selection and more event programming, increasing options for readers and families in the Oracle Wetmore area.
Expect author events, story times with a costume character, member-focused discounts and promotions on devices and media, and in-store café service. If you plan to attend opening-day events, arrive early—ribbon-cutting and signings typically draw crowds.
