ILTACON Part 3: Document platforms push governed AI, context layers, and MCP integrations

Last week's ILTACON produced a concentrated set of announcements around documents, data and AI. Vendors focused on three practical problems firms face: how to bring firm-controlled knowledge into AI workflows, how to connect multiple AI models to the same governed data, and how to surface trusted content inside AI-enhanced workspaces.

iManage made three linked announcements. It will make its next-generation platform generally available in October. The platform is positioned to combine knowledge, context and intelligence on a secure, governed foundation to support AI adoption across organizations.

Separately, iManage announced an integration with Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise for Legal, intended to bring governed enterprise knowledge to industry-specific AI agents for faster, more accurate automation of complex workflows. iManage also expanded a strategic partnership with Thomson Reuters to bring CoCounsel Legal, HighQ, Noetica and Legal Tracker together with governed iManage knowledge to support connected, AI-powered legal work.

NetDocuments and Legal Context Graph

NetDocuments expanded its MCP ecosystem by adding Google Gemini Enterprise alongside existing MCPs such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity, and legal AI partners Harvey and Legora. The company emphasizes its Legal Context Graph as a structured, matter-specific source of context that moves beyond basic search results and document text.

Entegrata's growth and MCP server roadmap

Entegrata reported rapid growth over the last 12 months: it doubled its firm roster to 20 clients (including recent additions such as Cleary Gottlieb, Wilson Sonsini and Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton), nearly tripled its team and expanded connectors to more than 50 with the addition of an iManage integration.

Wolters Kluwer advanced Libra, its legal AI workspace, by integrating its content—laws, rulings, expert commentary and practical guidance—into the workspace. The company presented this as linking authoritative content directly into AI-enabled research and workflow tools within Libra.

• Firms are investing in governed context layers (Legal Context Graphs, semantic Metrics layers) so AI outputs use firm-specific, matter-level information rather than generic internet content.
• Multiple vendors are pursuing MCP-compatible architectures so firms can choose or change AI models without rebuilding data plumbing.
• Integrations with major model providers (Google's Gemini Enterprise in particular) signal that frontier models are being positioned for regulated, enterprise legal workflows.
