Felyz Rodriguez and partner Devin Lopez say a group of women in a car pepper-sprayed and physically attacked them while they were walking to work in northwest Miami-Dade. Police have opened an investigation; the suspects fled.

The car then turned around, and the woman yelling, along with other women in the car, attacked him and Rodriguez, a trans woman.
Lopez says one of the occupants pepper-sprayed him. Rodriguez described another attacker yanking her hard by the hair. Video captured by a bystander shows Rodriguez being yanked and then pushed over when the driver reversed the car and used the open driver-side door to force her down. By the time police arrived, the suspects had left the scene.
Miami-Dade police have launched an investigation into the assault. Rodriguez and Lopez said they intend to file charges. The couple expressed confusion and distress about the motive. Rodriguez asked, "Is it a hate crime, is it something personal, or is it simply you have nothing to do?" Lopez wrote on social media that the incident could be related to their Hispanic background or Rodriguez's transgender status, and described the attack as "discrimination and completely uncalled for."
Lopez told viewers that this was the third assault the couple has faced. Rodriguez described being traumatized: "I'm confused, I'm distraught, I'm just traumatized at this point honestly." She also framed the incident in terms of threat to their safety: "This was my life and my partner's life on the line, so whatever consequences come to them, they have to face it on their own."
The bystander video released by Lopez clearly documents the physical contact: an attacker grabbing Rodriguez's hair, and the driver reversing and using the door to push Rodriguez to the ground. Lopez also claimed he was run into a fence before the witness began recording.
The attack raises immediate questions about motive, public safety, and the couple's repeated targeting. The public video provides evidence that could assist investigators. The couple's intention to press charges will move the case into the criminal justice system where motive and culpability may be clarified.

The attack allegedly left the woman with a spinal injury and two felony charges.
