Useful takeaways from this story.

HomeSmart’s merger with NorthGroup adds nearly 2,000 agents and expands into the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida while keeping NorthGroup’s existing operating model.

Century 21 Nexum Realty in Raleigh—about 30 agents and 10 years old—became a Century 21 affiliate to access brand technology, marketing and referral networks.

Keller Williams reports 21,086 KSCORE program graduates became KW agents over five years, with those graduates closing more than 53,000 transactions in that period.

HomeSmart announced a merger with NorthGroup Real Estate that brings nearly 2,000 agents into HomeSmart's network. NorthGroup operates a dozen-plus offices across the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida. After the merger, HomeSmart's agent count rises to more than 27,000 nationwide.

NorthGroup will continue to run under its current operating model. Agents keep their existing business structures while gaining access to HomeSmart's national resources and referral network. Both companies use a 100% commission model and describe themselves as agent-focused, which HomeSmart says makes integration smoother.

NorthGroup Founder, President and CEO Scott Wilkinson called the merger "an exciting milestone." HomeSmart Founder and CEO Matt Widdows described NorthGroup as an "impressive business" with a culture and model that aligns closely with HomeSmart. Widdows said the company intends to add tools, services and referral benefits for NorthGroup agents as they integrate.

NextHome adds nearly 200 SoCal agents

NextHome announced it gained almost 200 agents after three North Orange County offices—previously aligned with Keller Williams—rebranded as NextHome Pacific Estates under owner Colleen Rogers. Rogers said the switch created "renewed energy" among agents. The move follows NextHome's May acquisition by eXp Realty.

NextHome promotes two technology options for franchises: "Full" and "Lite." The Full Tech Stack provides an integrated toolkit plus access to a Member Services support team. Rogers described Member Services as a quick-response support channel that reduces time spent on administrative tasks so agents can focus on client relationships.

Century 21 expands in North Carolina

Century 21 Nexum Realty, a Raleigh-based firm led by Founder and Principal Broker Satyanarayana "Satya" Pullakhandam, joined Century 21 Real Estate. Nexum has nearly 30 licensed real estate professionals and marks its 10th year in business.

As a Century 21 affiliate, Nexum will have access to the brand's technology, marketing, lead generation, training and coaching resources, and referral network. Pullakhandam said the global brand's resources will help the firm support agent productivity and pursue growth across North Carolina and beyond.

Keller Williams announced a KSCORE milestone: 21,086 program graduates became KW agents over the past five years. Those KSCORE graduates have closed more than 53,000 transactions during that span.

What this means for brokerages and agents

  • Brokerages continue to consolidate and align with national brands to get broader tech, marketing and referral reach.
  • Firms emphasizing flexible operating models and rapid support services (like Member Services) are using those features to attract larger office groups.
  • Training programs are producing measurable outcomes for companies that track graduates and closed transactions, which can be used to recruit new agents and promote growth.

The recent moves reflect continued activity in brokerage consolidation and franchise affiliation. HomeSmart's merger notably increases its East Coast presence while allowing NorthGroup to retain its operating setup. NextHome and Century 21's additions show competing strategies: tech-and-support for mid-size offices, and brand resources for smaller regional firms.
